Preserving Black History Through Personal Narratives

Black History Month: Award-Winning Author Dawn James Launches the Memoir Blueprint to Help African Americans Preserve Black History Through Their Own StoriesAs we celebrate Black History Month, a renowned author is calling on African Americans to become active participants in preserving their own history by documenting their personal stories. Dawn James, an award-winning author and publishing strategist, has launched the Memoir Blueprint program to empower individuals to write their memoirs and create primary source documents that tell the authentic story of Black life in America.

A Call to Action
James emphasizes that Black history is not just made in textbooks, but also in everyday experiences that shape families. She encourages individuals to write their own stories, which will serve as primary source documents for future generations. 'Every story matters,' James says. 'Every voice counts. Let's ensure Black history is told by us, in our own words.'

The Memoir Blueprint Program
James' program offers a proven 60-day system that guides individuals through the memoir-writing process. The program addresses common barriers that prevent people from writing their memoirs, including not knowing where to start and feeling overwhelmed by the scope of the project. James provides a chapter-by-chapter roadmap based on must-tell life events, ensuring writing completion with confidence and clarity.

Free Workshops and Resources
To support individuals in their memoir-writing journey, James is offering free workshops throughout Black History Month. These workshops will provide a safe space for people to share their stories and receive guidance on how to write their memoirs. Additionally, James' company, Publish and Promote, offers professional publishing services, memoir-writing education, and ghost-writing services to help individuals preserve their legacy stories.

A Legacy of Preserving Black History
James has helped over 300 writers preserve their legacies since founding her company in 2010. Her own award-winning autobiography, UNVEILED, is a testament to the power of personal narratives in preserving Black history. James' mission is to empower individuals to take control of their own stories and create a lasting legacy that will be cherished by future generations.

As we reflect on the significance of Black History Month, it's clear that preserving our collective history requires more than just textbooks and historical accounts. By documenting our personal narratives, we can create primary source documents that tell the authentic story of Black life in America. Dawn James' Memoir Blueprint program offers a powerful tool for individuals to take control of their own stories and preserve their legacy for generations to come.
