My name is Refioe Mooi and I am an English Tutor. Furthermore; I have been a tutor for a number of years, I am also an author (Novelist/Poet). Additionally, I readily wrote this concise guide to aid those who struggle to find befitting methods when it comes to studying effectively. However, I ought to mention that people are distinctive, what works for me might not be fruitful to you. Nevertheless, it is of the essence to try different avenues.
Hence; this brief guide will disclose ways within which one could study comprehensively, and I earnestly plead that you pay attention because aligning with the above will certainly enrich you. When I was in high school, I was unable to study effectively; and not because I was dumb as a bag of hammers but merely because my method was all fingers and thumbs. Furthermore, my predicament went on for a very long time, in a nutshell, until grade 12. Fortunately however, during my first year in college, I discovered a befitting and fruitful method, one that I am yet to disclose. I call it "Making Use of Your Own Words" a renowned and common method but I daresay that most people tend to take it for granted. Nevertheless, this is how you apply it:
1. Thoroughly read the study material at hand and forsake the tendency of cramming. Read each subject or topic at least twice but if wish, you could read it multiple times.
2. After attaining the above; use your own words to summarise the subject you read, ensure that the summary is very concise and comprehensive.Use words that you can easily recall when jogging your memory. Do not complicate things by writing a long summary.
3. If possible; compose at least three sets of summaries, the latter will sharpen your understanding.
4. Always be patient when you are studying, especially if you've never used this kind of method before.
In conclusion, as I mentioned beforehand; this method might not be for everyone; but I certainly believe that a lot of people can prevail by using it.
